This trek is suitable for beginners or for those who have limited time but still want to experience a real Himalayan adventure. The trek starts from Naya Pul (New Bridge), an hour’s drive from Pokhara. The trail winds through beautiful rhododendron forest, which inspired the setting for “The Hobbit Triology”.
We, Cho Oyu Trekking team member will also be passing through the fascinating traditional Gurung village of Ghandruk, home of the valiant Gurkha soldiers. Ghandruk provides us a good opportunity to witness the culture and tradition of rural Nepal. At Ghorepani, the trail meets a major trade route, which is plied by mule trains ferrying goods north toward Tibet. Along the way, there are spectacular views of the snowy peaks of the Annapurna range, capped off by the dramatic and unforgettable and mountain scenery and sunrise from Poon Hill.
An easy trek that takes you up to a maximum elevation of 3,210 m at Poon Hill, this trip can be done throughout the year except during monsoon (mid-June through August).
