Step into another world.
Magical, mystical, mesmerizing… the Himalaya is a blend of unparalleled natural beauty, inexplicable spiritual wonders and diverse cultures that has stirred the imagination of explorers, trekkers, mountaineers, nature lovers, scientists, geologists and pilgrims alike the world over. Not long ago, the Himalaya was one of the most inaccessible places on the earth where only derring-do thrill and adventure seekers were gutsy enough to venture. In the past few decades, though, spreading outwards from the British hill-station of Darjeeling and the ancient caravan trade routes of Nepal that traverse all the way to the Tibet Autonomous Region of China, mountain tourism has developed into a refined state of hospitality and convenience that has paved the way for travellers from all over the globe to experience the amazing sights, sounds and sensations of the Himalaya.
Trekking allows you to experience nature and the flavor of local cultures from up close and at your own pace. It forms a bridge between the oddities of an unknown culture and the familiarities of your own. Walking through beautiful landscape with a rich diversity of flora and fauna, passing by quaint villages, green terraced fields and ever smiling people, and crossing gushing mountain rivers and steep gorges give you an insight into the tranquility of the land and the amicable nature of its people.
Many trekkers find themselves coming back again and again to explore another hidden valley, cross another mountain range, or just to gain further insight into and marvel at the rich natural and cultural diversity of this enchanting land. The Nepal Himalaya, in other words, is truly a paradise on earth for trekkers.
If you are not inclined toward walking, you can also explore and enjoy the Himalaya riding on ponies, which is available mostly in western regions like Dolpo and Lo Manthang (Mustang). The routes followed are the same as that trodden by trekkers. This can be a thrilling experience, especially if you love pony riding.

Camping trek: A camping trek is a traditional style of trekking where trekkers are accompanied by a team comprising a guide, a cook and his kitchen entourage, and porters to carry your food, tents, cooking accessories and camping gear. You eat and sleep (in tents) under the sky amongst picturesque surroundings. We organize camping treks as per your need.
Lodge trek: In a lodge trek, trekkers are accompanied by a local guide who will arrange accommodation and meals in local lodges or tea houses that lie en route the trekking trail. It is an ideal way to experience the lifestyle, tradition and culture of rural Nepal. Lodge trekking provides you with a unique opportunity to taste typical local cuisine prepared hygienically by the villagers and also to make friends along the way. We normally organize lodge trekking to such popular trekking destinations as the Khumbu (Everest), Annapurna and Langtang regions.
Luxury trek: A luxury trek is similar to a lodge trek except in that you have the choice of spending the nights in relatively luxurious hotels compared to lodges. These hotels have well appointed rooms with attached bathrooms, hot and cold running showers and hygienically prepared gastronomic delights. Cho Oyu Trekking operates one such hotel, Hotel Sherpaland, at Namche Bazaar, a bustling little mountain town that represents the heart of the Khumbu region. This type of trek offers something different from regular camping and lodge treks in that you not only get to trek in comfort and style, but also enjoy other “benefits” like being swooped off on a helicopter for a mountain flight right in the middle of the trek, a ride on the back of a horse or yak, which gives you the opportunity to take in the scenic beauty of the mountains and the surroundings without feeling tired and having to concentrate more on putting one foot in front of the other, receiving blessings from a high Buddhist monk in a private Lakhang or chapel and witnessing typical Sherpa culture and tradition through their songs and dance. This type of trek is for those who love to be pampered and indulged right in the heart of high country. You can undertake a luxury trek only in the Khumbu Valley.
